A leaking pool is always extremely frustrating for any homeowner. The pool owner may be incurring high water bills, larger than normal chemical usage, and possibly the risk of additional structural damage to the pool or patio. As the pool professional, we are faced with the equivalent of finding a needle in a haystack.
Most residential pools have over 1200 square feet of structural surface area and over 100 feet of underground plumbing. With all of this area to cover, we may be looking for a hole as small as the head of a nail, (a 1/16” diameter hole can release 100’s of gallons of water a day). The task of finding a leak may seem a bit overwhelming, however due to recent advances in leak detection technology, it doesn’t have to be.
After eliminating the possibility of the leak source being in an area visible to the eye, we use the most up to date sonic technology to locate the leak whether it is in your plumbing system or in a structural part of your pool.
