Cost Comparison

Depending on size, a concrete pool is about 10-15% more expensive to install than a fiberglass pool. Although concrete pools require a higher initial investment, they offer long-term benefits that justify the cost. If you have a sloped backyard, Fiberglass may cost more as a retaining wall will be required. The walls of a concrete pool have superior strength compared to fiberglass so in a sloped backyard, a retaining wall is generally not required. Concrete pools will last a lifetime and when the time comes, can be easily renovated. Creativity And Style

Concrete pools offer unmatched aesthetic appeal. With a variety of colors and finishes available, concrete pools can be stylized to blend seamlessly with your outdoor space. You can incorporate features such as a center island, sunken spas, spillover spas, any water features, steps and ledges, curved walls, beach entries, and any type / size of seating areas. Fiberglass pools, however, come with fixed design features and essentially no customization options.

A Lasting Investment

A concrete pool is a long-term investment. When built correctly the shell/bones of the pool will last a lifetime and can easily be renovated when that time comes. In contrast, fiberglass pools typically last 15-20 years before the gelcoat starts to fade or other costly/difficult repairs are required. A well-constructed concrete pool offers durability and longevity, making it a valuable addition to your property.

Comparing The Installation Process

Concrete pools take longer to install than fiberglass pools, typically requiring 1-3 months or longer depending on the entire scope of the project. Fiberglass pools can be installed in about 2-6 weeks. However, the faster installation of fiberglass pools can sometimes compromise quality, leading to structural issues over time. The meticulous process of installing a concrete pool ensures a sturdy and lasting structure.

Variety Of Pool Finishing Options

Concrete pools provide a wide range of high end finishing options including a variety of exposed aggregate finishes such as pebble, quartz and glass These finishes are commercial grade, low maintenance and can last 15-20 years before a simple replaster is required. Fiberglass pools have a smooth, oftentimes slippery gel-coated finish that will eventually fade due to UV light and are difficult to renovate.
